Handmade Resin Pendants

Just wanted to show u ladies out there what I've been up to last weekend when the sun was up and shining. For the first time in my life, I loved the sun! Hehe..yeah I'm a 'rainy' person. My mood usually lifts up when it starts to drizzle. All the pendants below are handmade from uv resin, that's why I needed the sun badly which I hadn't seen for the past few weekends. Once, the rain drops even destroyed my half 'baked' pendant and it turned out all sticky and gooey.. So without anymore complaints, have fun browsing!

Sunshine

It has been raining so much over the past few weeks, finally this Christmas weekend I manage to get some Sunshine to try out my new UV Resin! It turned out just perfect, no bubbles, crystal clear and perfectly domed. I'll dedicate an entry just on the experiments one of these days. :)

So what u see above are just some of the handcrafted pendants and charms which I still don't have any particular idea what to make out of it yet. Feel free to pour in ur ideas ya!

I have recently spotted this elegant 3D Buddha head charm and it comes in antiqued brass and antiqued silver. It was a tough decision to choose either one as both have intricate details on it but I ended up getting the antiqued brass one. So here's a 'rendition' of my interpretation of A Trip to Angkor Wat with the focal charm of the Buddha head charm.

End of Year Rush

Oh dear, it's again been awhile since my last entry! Time flies especially when you are preoccupied with work, wedding parties, Christmas dinners and what nots. Last week was my bro's graduation and below's a photo of my small family during his convo taken at the KL Convention Centre :)

Recently, I've also been toying with the idea of restyling my 'Create your own Charm Bracelet' page as many of the old charms aren't in stock anymore but most importantly, there are many many many more pretty new charms which I just couldn't find time to photograph each and everyone of them. I've been also thinking of adding a new section which would be revealed soon after I've done up the page. As for now, let's just say that it's gonna be really 'personalized'!

I hope it'll be up for a brand new custom made experience by January 2011. Till then, there'll be some new creations up next. Another hint: A Trip to Angkor Wat bracelet. :)

20's in Paris

Do you know that the era of 1920s is the decade which fashion entered the modern era? Despite that Parisians are still very much into intricate details. Here I've designed a bracelet with the 1920's in mind.

I can't help taking loads of pics on this vintage inspired bracelet. Love it to bits! Read on for a detailed description.

Here's an oval picture locket left empty on the inside, designed with the wordings 'Everyday Angels' on the outside with an intricate Moulin Rouge mask charm next to it.

A matte effect polka dotted charm and a bird with a dangling ivory rose.

This is a charm lined with very fine seed beads around the perimeter. I have added a black silhouette ribbon then sealed with high gloss.

Noticed the alphabet V here? You may change it to any alphabet you like. Just let me know. I have only 2 nos. per alphabet ya. Then we have the pink silhouette lady cabochon stuck on a actual lady silhouette charm.

I Love Paper Dolls!

Guess what I found in a small musty grocery shop while I was at Batu Arang a few weeks back accompanying the bf for some volunteer work? One of my favourite toys whilst a kid: the Paper Dolls! And most amazingly, it sold for just RM1.00!! One Ringgit only!!

Look, it has now got it's own cardboard paper bag, a few pages of dolls and clothes and some props too! It comes together with a cut out notebook as well!

It's just these little unforgettable treasures that keep the spark of your childhood going, no?

I made these over the weekend. :) It's a lil something to dress up the entire packaging and also a gift tag altogether. So it'll save you a lot of hassle if you are getting these handmade jewelry as a gift for someone special. It's stamped only front and back, left empty inside for your notes. It's stamped with a pretty birds in cage stamp and a quirky quote: Of course you can Fly, for Dreams have Wings. ;) Edges are all individually punched with a special traditional eyelet punch. Best of all, these brown paper contained recycled content!

Alternatively, you may also opt for a choice of 8 other different messages, stamped only the front. From left to right: antiqued airplane, typewriter, timepiece, birdcage, thank you, happy birthday, bon voyage & best wishes.

Something Old Yet Something New

Guess some of you have already a sneak peak of what I've produced out of these handmade charms in FB. :) Yup, you read it right, they are handmade: either set on an empty frame or set in a super thin 'glass sheet' ( or better called as Perspex) with really pretty acid free vintage looking paper.

For this range, I've named it the conservatory whereby all the charms are of this theme. These pretty papers are designed like what you see in conservatories where you see preservation of butterflies in a frame, pretty unhatched eggs, floral buds, etc.

I'm having so much fun making these charms and piecing them all up together. As I've mentioned, sneak peak in the FB page if you can't wait for me to post it up within the next few days. :)

Craft/ Bedroom Tranformation

Yay! It's 'complete'. :) This current craft & bedroom, that is. Well, this room took kinda longer to complete the look as I'm just way too busy the past year to organize and make it pretty. Now finally the oomph is here (by visiting a pretty stationary shop at Pavilion KL named Typo by chance and I gotta get their Baroque sea green framed magnetic white board). Please scroll down to drool over it. Oh and I also noticed that it's the exact same shade as my name card! 'Squeeks in excitement!!'

Tadaaa.. my work desk with the Baroque sea green magnetic white board as the feature. In the middle there's one quirky coin box which says 'In case of emergency, break glass'. It's like a miniature of those emergency bells which you can find in trains and buses. Then next to it are some cookie and sweet tins which i got from a souvenir shop in Paris. On top of that, on the board are my new vintagey creations which I'd plan to upload it sometime soon :) Notice those lil magnets used to hold up the sample swatches? Those are epoxy magnets on the various buildings in Paris. Then on the bottom right hand corner of the board is a bookmark showing the construction phases of the Eiffel Tower, which is totally cool! Oh by the way, those brown stands for the board are actually reused from my Ipad box support.

And, I made this brown felt picture holder with the left over Ipad box as well. Pair it with some decorative pastel pink felt from Daiso and pretty polkadot brown and sea green ribbon. Underneath is a dainty silhoutte bird and leaf hook which is also from Typo, which is now my current tools holder. It comes in hot pink, sea green and white. Obviously, I got the sea green. hehe..

On the other side of the board is my hot pink Baroque picture frame, flowering lacy metal can from Ikea, old English pot from Lovely Lace and some random rubber stamps. Oh, by the way, these are to hide my messy wiring behind and under the table. ;)

Here's the overall look.

The view from the other angle. Forgot to mention that I got that dark brown shelving unit last year from the As-Is department of Tesco for only RM49.00. There were minor defects on the backing, but tearing out the particular piece, it's as good as new! Most importantly, it's matches my blog header color: if you haven notice, it's Dark Brown & Sea Green! Splashing some pastel and hot pinks here and there, the entire place is now more cheery.

On the opposite side of the room is my dresser and the metal shelving unit from Ikea. The corrugated plastic and wood frame dresser surprisingly had served me well for about 4 years already. The Lerberg metal shelves, which I bought yesterday was super easy to assemble. Don't even need to have a screwdriver, just tighten with L-key which is provided, and 10 minutes later, it's ready for use!

Again, mirror's dark brown from Tesco, Baroque frames from Typo with photos that I've taken and digitally altered & cheap daisies from Ikea. I've started to fill up my shelves with craft magazines, scrapbooking supplies and files.

Oh, it's now thundering real bad, I'd better go now. So that's about it for now. Talk to you in the next post! Hope you guys are inspired. ;)

Book Recommendation

I for one, am a supplies hoarder! I tend to be the 'dun-bear-to-use-it-all' kinda beader. That's why I'm never short of storage boxes. You may wan to read my entry on bead organizing to know all the storage boxes I collected overtime.

Guess what, I'm now starting to venture into creating personalized charms with scrapbooking materials which was also collected since some time back, like say about 5 years?

Recently I bought a book from Amazon (yea, much cheaper than getting it from the local book stores although all it takes is just 11 days to arrive) entitled Beyond the Bead by Margot Potter. Do check out the reviews here.

Guess some of you must have seen the book The Impatient Beader, yup that's by her too. I totally agree with her that creative types tend to be extremist. Either they focus solely on one art form or they endlessly seek new materials/techniques to add to their repertoire. I, like her am the second type as I also tend to get bored easily.

So, let us all be more adventurous in trying out new creations! Having said that, I guess you'll all know what I'm hinting :) Yeap, more unique goodies coming up next ;)

I had a brain block on what to name this particular bracelet till I asked the bf and the moment he took a first glance, The Chain Connection was his first response. Din quite like it cos it sounded a bit long but that gave me an idea to name it Chain Mail instead. Coz I had this handmade charm that kind look like a stamp :)

This again is created out of my addiction to handcrafted charms that I mentioned here. This time round, this charm is actually crafted with pretty printed ribbons: polkadots, floral and lacy prints, topped with shiny blings. Heya look! Here's my first ever mixed media charm bracelet and I think I'm getting addicted to mixed media now. ;) Made a few more charming charms which I've pieced them up into charm bracelets. That will be coming up within the next few days. However, you may have a sneak peak at the FB page.

Okay, allow me to story-tell a little background of this bracelet. I first came across these pretty butterfly '3d' stickers and I've kept it for like a year or so already. Then I decided to try making them into framed butterfly charms but I hadn't gotten any ideas on what kinda design I'd like to theme them up together until recently when I've collected some pretty scrap sample fabrics which my curtain supplier decided to trash it after it's been discontinued. So, salvage the entire catalogue of samples that is :) Those fabrics were just simply lovely filled with pastel colours and floral prints.

However, for this bracelet I've only used the pastel stripey fabric. Coupled with some all time favourite polymer clay roses and ta daaa, here's the pastel yet cheery Enchanted Garden bracelet! Do bear in mind that this would be a one-piece-only bracelet yea, as I've ran out of the charm bracelet frames and butterfly stickers. Kinda reluctant to let it go actually. ;)

Bead shopping in Hong Kong!

Okie dokie..the long awaited post is here! Bead shopping in the busy streets of Hong Kong! Rights, basically I only went to Sham Shui Po for this and here's where you get the rows of bead shops line up for you. It's quite easy to get there via the MTR. You'll just need to stop at the Sham Shui Po station, take the exit A2 and walk straight on to the 2nd junction. There you'll start sensing that beads are just left, right, up, down n everywhere already. :)

You'll mainly get acrylic beads in thousands of shapes, sizes and colours but there also shops selling individual charms, findings and semi precious stones. Acrylic beads here are mostly sold by weight, so you just scoop the amount you need and they'll weigh and charge accordingly. Thinking back, I'll still spend my entire afternoon admiring them all, even those that have fallen into the drain and side walks. Hehe.. Yeah, that's how much beads u can get..

Woots..just in case you are wondering how am i doing with my current job, i'm glad to inform that i'm happy working here coz everything is so organized and i've a big desk to myself, very friendly and helpful colleagues, both bosses (husband n wife) are nice and very willing to teach (nope, they din bribe me to write this), balik sharp at 6pm (this 3 days la) :p, cosy office with pantry full of snacks, library full of books and materials, can go shop for more materials and furniture and the list goes on. hehe.. the only downside is to wake up early in the morning :( .. and after come back from work my eyes can barely open 5mm wide d..

Anyways, i'm here to also inform that if you guys are willing to wait 2 or 3 weeks for ur purchases to be delivered, i still do receive orders yea? Just email me. :)

Okie this is really gonna be the last post for now. hehe.. I just would like to thank you guys for your wonderful wishes (since most of u have already known that i'll be starting a permanent job as an interior designer in KL). Mixed Emotions

Until today, i'm still speechless about what had happened 2 days ago. My fren and tuition teacher lost 5 of their family members in a tragic car accident. All i can do now is just to continue to uphold the survivors in prayer for strength and for healing.

During the same day, i went for a job interview and was offered the job of an interior designer, something i've been interested to venture in since i was young. So starting July, i'll be joining the 9 to 6 crew already. Well, that would also mean, lesser updates, delayed email replies and limited time for delivary of packages.

Anyway, I had a great long break since graduation definitely not idling around but had enjoyed this time travelling around and working on this mini passion of mine. :)
