Personalized Your Own Book Thong

Tee hee.. Here's some book thongs I've made so far :) It's a pretty simple idea to make you novels prettier, no? So depending on what you are reading about, you may choose the matching charms to go along with it :)

This is a slightly different version as it's not made of ribbons but of pleated leather. It gives a more rugged feel, i feel..

And these were made as gifts for a customer's last day of work. She wanted to give her colleagues something meaningful yet useful so she handpicked the charms individually to suit each of her colleagues taste.

Bead Organizing

This is a post for beading enthusiast like me. :) I just know we can never get enough of bead boxes/organizers rite? Coz our treasures seem to be ever growing and not shrinking at all. Thus, organizing them is fairly important to remember what we actually have in our wide array of treasures.

Okie, currently my workstation looks like this. This is on the 2nd floor of my uncle's holiday home's tea room which i temporarily converted it into my workstation until my new house is ready.

A close up of my work table. Need to have lots of drawers, shelves and of course a table lamp.

I just love this shelf! Ample space to put all my bead containers, magazines, books and other scrapbooking materials.

At the corner is where i converted my Ikea CD rack into a jewelry showcase.

In the top drawer is where i put my essentials:- trays of findings organized by it's colour and also bottles of small metal beads plus strings and glue.

Second drawer is where i put my chains, toggles, bottles of seed beads and occasionally food!

Third drawer:- Smaller bead boxes where i keep some beads and pieces that come in smaller packages.

For the next part, i'll explain how i organize my beads and their suitable containers. I'm jotting down the price for your reference only, i'm not selling them :)
This particular container consist of 14 compartments, each with it's own individual lids. This is where i place all my findings such as headpins, eye pins, jump rings, etc. One thing good bout this container is that it has a curved base so it's very easy to pick up items especially small ones from the bottom.

These are stackable tubs where I place smaller metal beads which i use quite often.
Price: If i'm not mistaken it was RM3.50

Little glass bottles which i got at a cheaper price when i bot them in bulk. Here's where i place seed beads and it can double as decoration pieces as well.
Price: RM1.00- RM5.00 depending on the size and type of shape.

Sort of regretted getting these clear plastic boxes coz the compartments are quite small and there were a few times where i close it when the compartment was full and immediately it cracked. The good part though is that it also have a curve lower surface where u can pick the beads easily.
Price: RM10.00 (yea, it's expensive for this size)

These are little 'Mo Fa Kor' bottles which i ate quite a lot when i was slogging my thesis away to keep me awake. So it's recycled to place more beads! The wooden cart is from daiso.

Large and spacious containers from Ikea! Got 8 of these during the last Ikea sale. From RM19.90 slash to bout RM11.00. This is really worth coz the compartments are adjustable and is very deep. Can store a lot of things.

20 Tubs in a box. These are very good for colour matching in my opinion coz you can individually select the type and colour of beads out and arrange it on the table to see if it matches well or not.

Got these from Ace Hardware. Very spacious and handy too. No matter how much treasure you put in, the size is just right that it won't get too heavy.

These are smaller tubs where i place my Swarovski crystals.

Tubs that are higher. Here i place my precious gemstone beads. Looks very attractive on the shelf too.

These spacious baskets are also from Ace Hardware. Use it to store my shipping materials such as envelopes.

The velvety compartments are to place my charms! It comes in either velvety but not covered or perspex with cover. I find that the perspex ones break quite easily so i change them to the velvety kind.

My favourite of all! Cheap, lasting and the space is just nice for the usual size of a packet of beads. It's Toyogo plastic so i guess it must be of quite a good quality. And i can get it easily from the local thrift shop. So for this particular box, if anyone of you wants me to help you buy, all you need to do is to just email me ya.
